A new year is a beautiful representation of another fresh leaf blooming in the tree of life. As we step into another year, we all aspire to do a lot of things, take several resolutions, and make various promises. But only a handful of us would remember taking a resolution and sticking to it throughout.
While taking a resolution is a cakewalk, achieving the same doesn’t look like one as it demands a lot of dedication, sincerity, and the most important all your precious time. Think of it this way! What if this year we ditch that traditional approach and make it a ‘No resolution 2022’? Rather stick to the short-term goals and opt for a more holistic and realistic approach in the coming year. Here are four alternatives that can give you a sense of accomplishment as well as be a medium to become a better version of yourself by the end of this year.
- Practice self-reflection more – Socrates famously said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” With the start of a new year, it is a natural time for reflection, celebration, and forethought to the year ahead. Most of us are living lives unexamined and this shouldn’t be the case. Self-reflection is all about giving serious thought to our behavior, thought, attitude, motivation, and desires. It’s more about thinking about the why behind everything. Stick to practicing this regularly if you aspire to become a better version of yourself by the end of the year. Isn’t it much simpler than picking a tricky resolution for the year?
- List down things you are hopeful about – Don’t you think life often keeps throwing curveballs at us. Some we keep, some we kick back. If nothing else, hope is one thing that can be kept persistent in all scenarios to skip spiraling into despair. Being hopeful also makes us happy for a longer time. So, this new year list down things that you have been hoping to experience and manifest it all for yourself. This list can include things like saving a particular thousand by the first quarter of the year, landing yourself a better job, getting closer to your health goal, saying yes to the idea of falling in love, and a lot more.
- Follow a 30-day challenge – Good things take time. But a 30-day challenge definitely helps to get the ball rolling. Imagine one day you wake up with a thought of learning guitar and in the next 30 days, you know at least the basics of it. Does it not increase your chances of continuing with the learning process? Well, that’s the magic of consistency, everything seems doable with consistent efforts. Much as it gets difficult to stick to a resolution for 300 plus days it’s always easier to follow a 30-day challenge. This 30-day challenge can be picking up any new skill, prohibiting alcohol, saying no to smoking, or something as simple as not eating junk for the next one month.
- Pick a focus word for the year– You might already have your travel plans in place for the coming year, but have you thought of a focus word yet for the year? Choosing a focus word keeps you motivated throughout. For example : You can stick to ‘action’ as a focus word for 2022. Wouldn’t it be nicer if instead of just cribbing we start taking actions towards the betterment of it? More often people take focus word as the doing for the year rather it’s more about the way of doing. For you, this one word can be something that leads you towards good things.
So, why are you still here? Go, jot down all of it for you and get sliding into the NEW YEAR 2022. We are sure you will have a better time living up to these short-term and more realistic thoughts. And with this, we send your way a lot of happiness, prosperity, and good luck for the coming year!
